God as a Rewarder

In as much as we are supposed to see ourselves as “unworthy servants” whenever we become celebrated, God indeed is happy for us to view Him as a rewarder of our diligence and dedication to Him. He is happy to have us expect benefits from Him following our service. Heb 11. 6 tells us that He is pleased when we see Him as He is and as a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
1              What is reward? How is it different from gift?
We shall look at positive reward during this study.
2              Can we give some examples of rewards- contemporary and Biblical?
Mtt 19:29- sisters, father, mother, children, lands, shall inherit eternal life.
Healing, success; Prov 22:4; Ps. 91:16; Isa 1:19
3              Who qualifies for rewards?
-those who leave all to follow Jesus
-those who give tithes and offerings: Mal. 3:10
-those who seek the welfare of the Kingdom-Matt 6:26-33; Ps 84:11
-those who refuse to give up in trials- Job’s life story, James 1:2-4
-those who keep the word of the Lord-Ps 19:11; 58:11
4              What qualities in God make Him dependable for rewards?
-goodness-Exod 33:19; Isa 63:7
-faithfulness- Deut 32:4; Ps 33:4
-love
-Justice- Heb. 6:10
-He gives without finding fault or favouritism-James 1:5
-He does not owe people-Isa 45: 19
5              What action plan must we have?
Discuss this in line with Heb. 12: 2,3
Often times, we treat God as though he were remote and that He must have changed compared to how He led the former generation. This affects our trust in His ability to do the things He has been able to do for those believers of old. We need to refocus our believe in him as God, omnipresent. Only then can we possess the qualities required of us to give him pleasure.
