Prayerlessness

Introduction: We all at one point or the other have felt lazy to pray and thought it was reasonable to feel that way. This may sound true and for which reason, some men of God have advocated “spiritual holidays” so as to return strong! This approach easily sells as we are all prone to accepting the easy way out. One of the reasons for secularism overtaking Christian discipline in developed countries can be traced to prayerlessness. We seek explanations for every issue and when we do not have one, we hang onto a theory as though it were truth. Those who pray about everything are viewed as weaklings and/or people not able to face life in its pure form. The challenge remains for us to understudy certain pitfalls that underscore lack of prayer.

Discussions
·         When you believe no one is hearing you. Isaiah 59:1
·         When you think you are not worth the trouble for God to help. Acts 13:46; 1Cor 6:2
·         When you believe “God’s will” will always prevail whether you pray or not. So why waste time? Isaiah 29:14; Jer 8:9; 1Cor 2:5
·         When you become too proud to ask for help. Psalms 40:4; Prov 16:5
·         When you trivialise what you need and feel you are a bother to God.
·         When you are lazy (giving reasons for our inaction). Prov 26:13; Prov 19:15
·         When time for other “important” matters overwhelms the hour of prayer. Acts 3:1
Summary: Staunchness must be shown towards prayer else we stray (Acts 6:4). It may immediately appear wise not to “bother” God with matters that require intelligent decisions. However, although the Lord Jesus knew He was on earth to die for the sin of the world, He still prayed about the event! All that can escape prayer can get out of your reach.
